Umbria region

Umbria is called the green heart of Italy as it is just in the middle of the country and is characterized by small borughs, wild nature and historical attractions. it is a small region, with only 815.000 citizens. The largest cities are Perugia and Terni. The most important and famous town are Assisi, Orvieto, Todi, Gubbio and Spoleto. In Umbria you can easily find some different types of accommodations. In the last few years, Umbria tourism has become a strong reality and it is going to grow more and more in the future. We offer a large number of Umbria accommodations. You can choose a farm holidays or some exclusive Umbria villas with pool.

In Umbria there are some undiscovered place and other famous cities and towns that are worth to visit. Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia, Todi, they all boast a great landscapes and important historical downtowns. Nevertheless Umbria is a land full of water, lakes (the biggest is the Trasimeno) and rivers (the most important is the Tevere).

-Foods: If you are in Umbria do not miss the typical restaurants (trattorie and osterie) where some delicious traditional meals are served. Umbrian dishes: Umbrichelli (light pasta with prepared with flour and water) with black truffle, Pork sausages and salami and mazzafegati (a special type of pork sausages with liver), Beans soup, Lentils, Game meat (wild boar, hare, deer, rabbit). Do not miss also the great wines (some representative labels, Cardeto Orvieto classico, Decugnano de Barbi, Castello della Sala and Cervaro Antinori, Palazzone, Lungarotti, Sagrantino di Montefalco, Monrubio...)

-Airports and main roads: the biggest airport is Sant'Egidio (15 km far from Perugia - http://www.airport.umbria.it/). The main road of the region is the E45 motorway passing through Terni, Perugia, Città di Castello), the A1 highway toll is near Orvieto and Fabro.
