The Wine of the Etruscans

The first civilization that started the winemaking tradition in Orvieto were the Etruscans. During this tour we will the Pozzo della Cava, in the medieval quarter of Orvieto: a labirinth of tunnels and cavities that shows the extraordinary Etruscan skill in creating underground spaces to be used as workplaces exploiting all its potential. At the end of the visit a local wine tastings served with typical products. Then tour resumes with a guided visit at one local winery, we will see a cellar where the oak barrels for refining the wine still rest today an ancient original Etruscan cave, testifying to how this extraordinary people had already understood the fundamental role of temperature and humidity in the aging process. At the winery a special wine tastings paired with local snack will be served.
